Fuck me, the tourists attack

I could really give First Bus a run for their money in my no posts for ages and then several at once.  I haven’t had much in the way of news though, but now I do!

Firstly, the waiting is finally over and I have indeed been successful in my quest for a job and am now officially going to be a Subtitler!  I am very pleased as I really wanted the job.  The downside is that it doesn’t start until the end of September!  I guess because of the Olympics etc, they will be very busy and not wanting to be bothered with training new folk.  So the job search continues in the meantime for a short term job.

In other news, I have been sewing a lot.  I am getting into practice for Christmas which is rather worryingly only 4 months away.  How did that happen?!  I want to be very organised this year, Miso Funky wise, so am stockpiling emobroidery now.  It is keeping me out of mischief whilst I jobhunt.  Mum is also here visiting, so I have put her to work sewing some cushions for my sofa out of a vintage duvet cover – they are ace!  It’s a horrible day today, no light, so photos will follow another time.

Here is my very first emobroidery for our house!

I am very pleased with how it turned out and especially love the frame, which I got in Bangkok.  Sadly they only had one in the shop or I would have bought all they had.  It goes great in my bathroom, I am very chuffed.

I’m Claire and I live near Glasgow, in Scotland. I have strong family ties to Cincinnati, too and regard it as my second home. If I had to describe myself in five words, it would be thus: Does. Not. Suffer. Fools. Gladly. I’ve been cross stitching pretty much all my life, but professionally since 2005, first as Miso Funky, then as The Bellwether and now under my own name. I'm known for my witty, sarcastic and occasionally profane typographic designs. My work has been featured in The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Channel 4 and on BBC television as well as numerous media outlets across the globe. At one point, I was kind of a big deal but I mostly just dabble in it these days when I have time. My website is a repositry of cross stitch charts, travel and food blogging and you'll find it at www.antibullshitleague.com. I also love to travel and eat, ideally travelling somewhere great to eat something brilliant. I'm fascinated by social history, particularly the Victorians and will absolutely beat you hands down in a quiz about the Tudors. Dogs are LIFE. I like being in water and have lots of ideas that will never see the light of day but would definitely be a winner on Dragon’s Den/Shark Tank. I love to give people gifts. I! also! overuse! exclamation! marks! sorry!
